Membership

Eligibility

There shall be four forms of membership: Corporate, Individual, Associate and Students

a. Corporate Members

Businesses established in accordance with the laws of the Gambia engaged in the business of ICT and subscribe to the principles, ideals of the society as enshrined in the constitution. Two memberships will be allocated to each corporate member.

b. Individual Members

Persons who hold qualifications in ICT recognized by the Executive Committee or employed in the ICT industry and subscribe to the principle and ideals of the society.

Subject to the provisions of these articles, individual members have same voting rights as corporate members.

c. Associate Members

(i) Persons or organizations who do not qualify for membership in any category but who, in the opinion of the Executive Committee, are sufficiently involved in the development of information communication technology activities.

(ii) Associate Members have no voting rights.

d. Student Members:

i. Persons who are pursuing full-time courses in approved tertiary institutions (whether in Gambia or overseas) with the expressed intention of obtaining qualifications recognized by the Executive Committee.

ii. Student Members shall have no voting rights. Rights and responsibilities

e. The rights of all existing members of the Association shall not in any way be prejudiced as a result of any changes in the qualification for any category of membership.

i. Members shall comply with the rules and regulations of ITAG, and shall work toward the achievement of the aims and objectives of ITAG

ii. Each member is entitled to a membership card which authorizes participation in activities reserved for members

iii. Each membership is entitled to one vote in matters submitted to a general vote of all members of ITAG.

iv. For the convenience of a member, additional member cards may be issued for an annual charge to be established by the Executive Committee

v. Members shall be professional and ethical in their dealings with ITAG, and in handling the affairs of the Association

3.3 Subscription

a. Each member shall pay such amount of subscription fees for such subscription period as may be proposed by the Executive Committee and approved by the General Assembly.

b. The following categories of members shall pay the following rates on a yearly basis:-

D5000.00 per annum for businesses
D1000 per annum for individuals
D200 per annum for students
D2000 per annum for associate members

3.4 Termination of Membership

Membership of ITAG shall be terminated upon:

i) Persistent failure to actively participate in the affairs of ITAG

ii) Involvement in activities incompatible or inconsistent with the aims and
objectives of the Association Voluntary resignation of a member

iii) Failure to pay membership fees when due.
